Combined with complimentary wedding planning, and over a decade of event planning expertise, we’re here to make you love every minute of your wedding and the planning process leading up to the big day. We plan our events with meticulous detail from start to finish.
Our process is very interactive and comprehensive making sure no detail is left undiscussed and you arrive for the celebration as calm as possible and ready to celebrate! We create timeless weddings that prioritise the couple. By the time your wedding day arrives, you won’t feel like you’re traveling to a venue, you’ll feel like Hemsworth Estate is your luxurious home away from home where you and your guests will feel comfortable, and focus solely on celebrating your love.

Hemsworth Estate is a woman-owned and operated business, under the dedicated leadership of a same-sex partnership. We bring a unique sensitivity and commitment to ensuring all guests, regardless of their background, feel seen, valued, and celebrated.
Ashburton is a town that revels in memory lane, and Hemsworth Estate has the advantage of being a family run business for the past four generations and the estate has hosted weddings’ since owner/operator’s own Grandmother’s Wedding in 1955. This history, welcoming energy, and warm service help provide the local community with an incredible experience they could not create on their own.
We are also a safe and inclusive environment for the LGTBQ+ community by being part of that community ourselves, hosting same-sex weddings and regularly hosting same-sex couples for bed and breakfast stays. And we are the go-to friendly face for our colleagues in the wedding industry to send over their new offers for our eye on their inclusive approach.
Even before booking us as a venue, we get feedback about our warm and reassuring presence. Wedding planning is a stressful addition to already busy lives and we aim to take as much off our couple’s plate as we can.
In our complimentary wedding coordination process, we provide couples with an extensive run-sheet of the day, a copy/paste to-do list for their preferred app, and walk with them through every detail pulling inspiration from the most unlikely of places. For example; in a recent consultation, the couple joked that they could just “put out some Doritos” for guests during cocktail hour. We turned this off-hand remark into a unique taco-bar experience for guests that will be unlike any other wedding they will go to. Inspiration like the Taco bar shows we base our wedding experiences off the couple, their unique personalities and their values.
We specialise in garden party ceremonies and cocktail hours, and cosy receptions hosted in our 100 year old Lambing Shed or a Marquee.
