Hi, I’m Mandy — a Christchurch-based wedding photographer who’s all about capturing natural, joy-filled moments for couples in love. If you’re dreaming of a wedding day that feels relaxed, true to you, and full of connection, you’re in the right place.

How It All Started

I got married in 2010, and it was during that experience that I realised just how meaningful it is to have your story captured with care. That moment sparked a creative journey that eventually became Mandy Caldwell Photography — a business I now run with heart, purpose, and a love for people.

Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, I’m also a mum to four wild and wonderful kids. Life is full and a little chaotic, which I think helps me show up on wedding days with patience, humour, and a calm presence. I know how to find beauty in the everyday, and I bring that mindset into every wedding I photograph.

What Working With Me Is Like

Most of my couples start by saying, “We’re awkward in front of the camera” — and honestly, that’s perfect. My job is to help you relax, have fun, and forget the camera’s even there. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but mostly, I’ll let the magic happen naturally. I’m not here to stage a photoshoot. I’m here to document a day that’s completely yours — the people, the energy, the in-between moments, and everything that makes your love story unique.

Behind the scenes, I’m the calm in the chaos. Fixing veils, holding bouquets, making sure your glass is topped up — whatever it takes to help you feel at ease so you can focus on what matters.

For couples who want their full story told — from getting ready through to the party on the dance floor. I’ll be there for every important moment (and the quiet ones in between), capturing the day as it unfolds.

• Elopements & Intimate Weddings

Planning something small and meaningful? Whether it’s a backyard ceremony or a clifftop elopement, I offer flexible packages to suit intimate days.

• Engagement Sessions

The perfect way to get comfy in front of the camera and celebrate this sweet season of life. These are relaxed, fun, and often end with a wine or a coffee.

• Portrait Sessions

I also offer family, maternity, and newborn photography — capturing life’s big and small milestones in a gentle, documentary style.

All packages include high-res digital galleries, with options to add keepsake albums, prints, and second shooters. I’ll walk you through everything and help tailor a package that fits your plans.

Planning Support Along the Way

I’m here to help throughout your planning process — not just on the day. I’ll guide you on timelines, lighting, locations, and how to get the most out of your photos. I’ve been to a lot of weddings (and seen a lot behind the scenes), so I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned. I also love working alongside other talented local vendors, and I’m always happy to share my go-to list of florists, celebrants, planners, and stylists. You might also see me at the Christchurch Wedding Expo in June. It’s a great spot to meet vendors and get inspired.

Where I Work

I’m based in Christchurch but love to travel. I regularly photograph weddings in the South Island (including Queenstown, Akaroa, Tekapo, and Kaikōura), and I’m available for destination weddings around New Zealand and Australia. If you’ve got a beautiful plan, I’m there.
